RIGHT TIME ... RIGHT PLACE ... RIGHT ACTION BY WILL BERLINGHOF
In the 1800s Horace Greeley made his famous proclamation; "Go West Young Man!" This inspired several generations to venture westward in search of adventure, wealth and freedom. For many it was a new
start, breaking free of the bonds, restrictions and limitations of their existing lives. Above all it was a response to an inner call that directed them to follow their destiny.
Today most of the physical
frontiers have been conquered. Yet one important frontier remains: the Inner Frontier. This frontier offers the greatest freedom and healing in these confused and troubled times. Once crossed, it will put us in touch
with our Inner Selves and our Spiritual Guidance. Then we will always be led to the right place at exactly the right time. Only then can we pursue the right course of action.
The new call for these times is:
"Go Inward Young Men and Women!" It has nothing to do with one's age and everything to do with one's willingness to take a chance. A new generation of adventurers are heeding this call. They have taken the
plunge and are changing their lives. They trust their feelings and their intuition. They are willing to risk all in order to grow and heal. They're willing to learn from their mistakes. What becomes important is
following one's own heart and feelings as opposed to someone else's idea of the right course of action. Not the Comfort Zone but the Twilight Zone is the preferred choice.
How can we find our Path of Heart and
travel it with confidence and certainty? First we must learn to connect with Spirit and let ourselves be guided. Spirit – a very real force in our lives – will always put us in the right place at the right time. That is
usually the place where we gain the lessons that help us to grow mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Keynote to this process is Trust. Trust that you are being led where you need to be, exactly
when you need to be there. Trust that the lessons that you receive are exactly the ones you need to receive. Trust that the action you take is right for the moment. Learning to live in trust is one of our hardest
challenges. We are encouraged to look for guarantees. Without a promise of something better, it is very difficult to act. Our society rewards complacency, not audacity. There is little support offered by those around us
who seek desperately to `be normal.' Yet to walk one's Path of Heart entails being different. To find the Inner Frontier we have to be willing to be unique and individual. To take chances. To live in trust.
The
biggest enemy to living in trust is fear. In fear we respond to old patterns, old beliefs. We can't respond to the demands of the moment because we don't live in the moment. If we don't confront our fears, we remain in
victim mentality. Taking responsibility for one's life is essential if one wishes to walk one's Path of Heart. Only by taking responsibility for our lives, past and present. can we ever truly engage our lives. Only by
taking responsibility can we start to live in trust that we are not alone, that we do have purpose and meaning. We become the true determiners of our destiny. When we add to this our connection to Spirit we begin to
realize that it is possible to live a guided life.
In the end, by learning to follow our heart and feelings, by living in trust and responsibility, we put ourselves in touch with the Inner Frontier and the flow
of our lives. Then we will be walking our Paths of Heart. Then we will be connected to Spirit in a real and vibrant way. It is then that we will find ourselves in the right place at the right time taking the right
action.
